VANAESA is short for Virtual Anaesthesia Assessment - a novel telehealth platform. We connect anaesthetists with their patients, to enhance safety and comfort in the peri-operative period.
For Patients
A Bespoke Anaesthetic Experience
To maximise safety and comfort, your anaesthetic is tailored to meet your specific needs. To do so, your anaesthetist requires important information about you - your health, your preferences and concerns you may have. This process is the pre-anaesthetic assessment.
VANAESA connects you with your anaesthetist to facilitate this. Provide this information as accurately and as early as possible, to avoid unnecessary delays to your procedure.
How This Works
The pre-anaesthetic assessment begins with a pre-anaesthetic questionnaire. If your anaesthetist is registered with VANAESA, an SMS will be sent to your mobile number. In it, you will find a unique registration link. Follow the link to register and fill in your questionnaire.
After Your Questionnaire Is Submitted
Your responses will be reviewed by your anaesthetist. If your anaesthetist needs more information or has specific advice for you, he or she will contact you via VANAESA. Otherwise, there is no further action needed from you.

Know your patients ahead of time
Once a case is booked, send your patient a health questionnaire early to fill out at the patient’s convenience. This highlights any health issues that may impact the anaesthesia plan and risks.

Having access to key patient information early allows you to formulate the anaesthetic plan according to the patient’s needs.

Customise our master questionnaire templates to your needs. Keep separate questionnaires for different types of patients (eg obstetric, paediatric) and surgeries (eg cardiac, neuro). Never miss out important questions again.

Improve response rate
VANAESA features a user-friendly, responsive and clear interface. Automated reminders are sent to patients with unfilled or incomplete questionnaires. Multilingual support (coming soon) allows you to connect with international patients.
Go in prepared
Avoid late cancellations due to incomplete testing or inadequate optimisation. Knowing the patient ahead of time allows also allows you to request for special equipment and monitors, and arrange suitable post-op care.
Maximise productivity
VANAESA reduces cancellations arising from communication lapses. Clear written instructions for fasting and medications are directly conveyed to the patient via text and email, with just-in-time SMS reminders that you customise and schedule. (Premium feature).
Keep your personal number and email private
All communication through the platform is done using VANAESA’s own mobile number and email address, so you don't have to reveal your personal contact details to your patient.
A more robust consenting process
Propose an anaesthetic plan and send the information to the patient for reading, along with the relevant risks. The patient can read and process these at own leisure. Save time by using or customising our master templates, or create your own from scratch. If required, the patient can chat remotely or arrange a video call with you to clarify issues, or discuss in person on the day of surgery. Complete the consenting process on the day of surgery - sign the physical consent in person and proceed.
Patient satisfaction
